Thank you to the Year 10 and 11 students and their parents and carers who attended our ‘Key Stage 4 Matters Evening’ last week. A lot of important information was shared relating to how students can get the most out of their final two years of school, and lots of tips about how to support students at home were also shared with parents and carers in the form of seminars and workshops. Thank you also to all post 16 providers that attended on the evening, for providing the impartial advice and guidance that our Key Stage 4 students need when starting to think about life after Oulder Hill – your input to the evening was most welcome.

Thank you to parents and carers of Year 7 students who came to the Year 7 evening this week. It provided an excellent introduction to life at Oulder Hill and how parents and carers can support their child’s learning, covering issues such as homework, our rewards system, use of the school’s Virtual Learning Environment and how parents can become involved with the Parent Forum. Again, it was fantastic to see so many of you coming on the night.

Congratulations to our Year 9 netball team for starting their season with an emphatic 25 points to 1 victory against Beech House. They played superbly and were great ambassadors to the school. The team consisted of Ella Storto (player of the match), Melissa Chambers, Danielle Williams, Shannon Buckley, Ellie Jones, Aleena Ali, Sian Haigherty and Lucy Moore.

Well done also to our Year 10 rugby team. Although they were beaten by Waterhead Academy by 26 points to 16, the boys performed exceptionally well and the game was actually much tighter than this scoreline suggests. The team has come a long way in a short space of time and this was a really good result, particularly considering this was only their fourth game together as a team. The star performers were Alex Maughan and Sam Gilchrist, who has also been selected to take part in trials for Lancashire – well done Sam.
