Labels:
Please, please label everything your child brings to school this will make returning misplaced items much easier as well as making it easier to double check the ownership of disputed items. Without your support it is impossible to return misplaced items.

Earrings (hoops), nail varnish and hats:
Children who wear earrings must wear studs only in school. Wearing loopy or dangly earrings cause the possibility of a risk of harm to the children. During P.E. the earrings (studs) must be removed or covered with surgical tape which should be kept in the child’s pump bag. Increasing numbers of the girls are wearing nail varnish and make up in school – a reminder to you that all forms of make-up are unnecessary for school. The children will be reminded to remove it before they come to school.

Packed lunched at Shawclough:
Could we please remind you about our packed lunch policy. Packed lunches should include:

  • Sandwich or equivalent eg wrap, rice, salad, pasta salad, etc.
  • A drink of water, milk or pure fruit juice

It should not include:

  • Jam or chocolate spread sandwiches
  • Fizzy drinks or sugary cordial
  • Bars of chocolate
  • Crisps more than once or twice a week

Unit Three:
In Unit Three as part of our Design Technology project we are making wheels and investigating movement. For this we need lots of kitchen roll tubes. If you have any please send them into Unit Three. Thank you.

Unit 3 and 4 talking homework:
Please find some time to talk to your child/children about the following topic (meal times are ideal for this). This will be followed up in class during the following week: ‘A job you would really like to have’.

Sweets in school:
Just a reminder that children are not allowed sweets of any description in school at any time. Whilst on the subject this brings me to birthday treats -Many children (and their parents) like to bring in a treat for other children in their class to celebrate birthdays. Instead of buying sweets for the children you can buy a book for the classroom. The librarian, Suzanne O’Hara, has a stock of books so that you can select one to buy and donate to the classroom. If you wish to discuss this further please contact me in School.

A big reminder – start and end of the day:
It is important that you are clearly aware that if your child arrives at school without an adult before 8.30 am. they must attend Early Start Club. If they have not been collected by 3.30 pm. they must attend Tea Time Club.

Mobile phones:
Children must not bring mobile phones to school.
