Early arrivals: Children who arrive at school, without an adult, before 8.30 a.m. will be put into Early Start Club – they are not allowed to wait alone in the entrance. This is to ensure your children’s safety.
September 2012 nursery application forms:
The forms are now available from the school office to apply for a place in our school nursery for September 2012. We still have some places in our current afternoon nursery please come to the school office for information.
Unit 3 and 4 talking homeswork:
At Shawclough we are always looking for ways to help children to succeed with their work. Research has proved that if you can’t say it clearly you will not be able to write it. Talking through and justifying their opinions with their family is a great way to help pupils improve as writers so we will be incorporating regular topics for children to talk about at home over the weekend.
Please find some time to talk to your child/children about the following topic (meal times are ideal for this). This will be followed up in class during the following week.
Our first topic is: What has been the best day of your life so far?
Children’s school diaries:
I hope you are aware that your child has been given a home-school homework diary (these have been issued to children in years 2-6). As well as informing you of the homework your child has to do the diary will hopefully prove to be a valuable means of communication for us all. Your child must bring their diary each day. Lost diaries can be replaced at the cost of £1.50 each.
Children are able to earn during the school year Unit, Bronze, Silver and Gold Badges. Parents will be invited to our special celebration assemblies on Fridays when their child is receiving their badge.
Thrum Hall Church Toddler Group and Baby Clinic:
This will now be held on Thursday mornings from 9.30-11.30 am. The Church will be open from 8.45 am. if any parents would like to go for coffee.
