Payroll team host coffee morning

Date published: 13 September 2011

The Payroll Team of Rochdale Borough Council’s Impact Partnership celebrated National Payroll week by hosting a charity coffee morning in the Municipal Offices.

Colleagues from across the council dropped in to meet the team, take part in competitions and buy gift items. Over £700 was raised for Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support while a collection was also held on behalf of the Support Our Soldiers shoebox appeal.

Rochdale’s Payroll Team administers the salaries of over 10,000 employees of Rochdale Borough Council, other local partner organisations and schools. As part of Impact Partnership, the team is also taking on new contracts from further afield – part of the company’s commitment to bringing employment and skills opportunities to the borough.

2011 has been a notable year for British payroll professionals as its industry body has been awarded Chartered status.

Andrew Collinge, 22, the youngest member of Rochdale’s team, has recently started studying for a foundation degree in payroll management.

He said: “I’ve always felt part of the team since I joined three years ago from college. I’m grateful to the company for investing in my training and it’s nice be able to give something back.”

Payroll Manager Dawn Richardson said: “We’re very pleased to support these charities as they are of personal importance to some of our staff. It has also been great to meet colleagues whom we serve on a daily basis.”
