Fun Lovin Feel Good

Date published: 03 September 2011

From opening the main stages at this year’s V Festival in August, to headlining the climax of the 2011 Feel Good Festival in Rochdale Town Hall Square is some contrast, but New York based hip hop/alternative rock band The Fun Lovin’ Criminals gritty, satirical songs proved a hit with the local crowd.

FLC's musical style is primarily eclectic, coving styles such as hip hop, rock, funk, blues and jazz. Their songs often deal with life in New York City, as well as urban life in general. As a band, they cover such issues as organised crime, recreational drug use, violence, poverty and politics. They are best known for their hit 'Scooby Snacks' which features samples from films by Quentin Tarantino.

The band gained a large following internationally, notably in north-west Europe, around the release of their first two albums in the late nineties.

Backing up FLC in the Saturday night line up were Badly Drawn Boy and Frankie & the Heartstrings. Earlier in the afternoon and evening the rain soaked audience enjoyed performances from Ellen and the Escapades and Doyle and the Fourfathers.
