Springhill Hospice Rochdale Calendar 2012
The eagerly awaited Springhill Hospice Rochdale Calendar for 2012 has been unveiled at a special event attended by the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Alan Godson, trustees and patrons of Springhill Hospice and invited guests.
The calendar, sponsored by the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, features pictures from around the borough taken by local photographers.
The hunt to find suitable photographs began in February this year when the Rochdale Calendar Competition was launched, followed by all the entries being put on display in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre for a public vote to find the most popular picture.
This year that honour goes to ‘Fields, back of St Michael’s Church,’ taken by Craig Szlatoszlavek, which will also be reproduced on a limited edition of Hospice Christmas cards along with another of Mr Szlatoszlavek’s photographs of Hollingworh Lake in winter.
Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager at Springhill Hospice, said: “I would like to thank everybody who supports our calendar - from main sponsor, the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, all our monthly sponsors, to the photographers who enter the competition each year, the people who bother to vote for their favourite pictures and, of course, the people who buy the calendar when it hits the shops, some of whom send it around the world to friends and family. It remains our most popular item of merchandise.”
The calendar and selection of Christmas cards will available from all Springhill Hospice shops, Hospice Reception, the Tourist Information Centre, Rochdale, Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre and other various outlets across the borough early in September.
