Benefits bus rolls into Middleton

Date published: 31 August 2011

Rochdale Borough Council’s Mobile Advice Centre, known as the ‘Benefits Bus,' is coming to Middleton in September.

The free service will be offering residents advice on everything from council tax to claiming free school meals, pension credits to blue badges and much more.

Councillor Farooq Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “The mobile service is easily accessible, with no appointment necessary – just drop in for some friendly advice on a wide range of services.

“Even if we can’t help directly we can usually put you in touch with someone who can.

“If you have never claimed any benefits before, it may be worth finding out what you may be entitled to – especially if your circumstances have changed or you are on a low income or out of work.”

You can catch the bus in the car park of Tesco Extra in Middleton all week from Monday 5 September until Friday 9 September. It will be open from 10.00am – 3.00pm every day.

Council staff will be joined by advisors from Job Centre Plus if you’d like some careers advice, and on Tuesday and Thursday staff from the local Surestart Centre will be on hand to answer any family/children related enquiries you may have.
