Hopwood Hall College’s full-time Step Forward students gathered for their annual awards evening at the Henry West Conference suite recently; the event was held to celebrate their achievements during the past academic year.

The 14-16 year old learners study a vocational programme at the College as an alternative to the traditional secondary school curriculum.

Family, friends and college staff, as well as various Borough representatives including the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Alan Godson and Mayoress Gillian Brown attended the event to pass on their congratulations to the youngsters.

Students were presented with their certificates by Assistant Principal Lesley Hawkins and 14-16 Director Hazel Sarras.

An enjoyable evening was had by all and, amongst the various award winners, Jade Goodyear and Matthew Murray were named overall ‘Step Forward Stars of the Year’ for Year 10 and Year 11 respectively.

Antonio Gonzalez, Transition Officer at the College said: “We would like to congratulate all Step Forward learners on their efforts and look forward to celebrating further successes with the students in the forthcoming academic year.”
