Marie Curie celebrates fun day with Mark Masons

Date published: 27 August 2011

Marie Curie Cancer Care will be one of two charities that will join the East Lancs Mark Masons in celebrating their family fun day at the Masonic HQ in Middleton tomorrow (28 August).

The charity received an amazing grant of £50,000 from the lodge in 2010.

It will present visitors with a light-hearted quiz abut the work of the charity. The quiz will include a question about how many hours of home nursing care service the grant has enabled the charity to support in East Lancashire .

Gerald Deslandes, Regional Gifts Manager of Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “Marie Curie nurses work day and night to care for terminally ill patients in their own homes.

“In 2010 - 2011 we cared for 670 patients in East Lancashire alone. To do this we had to raise £727,261 through legacies, donations, community and sporting events.

“The donation from the East Lancs Mark Masons is the largest one of its kind and will enable us to provide more people with the kind of care they hope for, and deserve, when they need it most.”

The family fun day will take place from 1 - 4pm at the Masonic HQ on Manchester Old Road in Middleton. Bouncy castle, fair ground experience, Children's entertainer, lots of prizes etc.

There will be a presentation by the local Mountain Rescue Service, which was has also been a beneficiary of the Mark.

Admission will cost £4 Adults Children are Free.
