GCSE joy for Matthew Moss
Date published: 25 August 2011
The waiting was finally over today (25 August) for Matthew Moss High School pupils who were collecting their GCSE results.
The young men and women gathered at the school to receive their grades and stood out in the sunshine celebrating their achievements.
Head teacher Andy Raymer said: “We have had some lovely sets of results with kids getting great handfuls of A* and A grades. I am really happy for them.”
One of the students celebrating terrific results was Farheen Arien from Meadway. She achieved 11 A* grades and one A grade.
She said: “I am really pleased with myself, I am delighted.
“I did much better than I expected. It was hard work and I think there might have been a bit of luck there as well.”
Miss Arien will continue her studies at Holy Cross in September. She will study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Geography and one day hopes to study Architecture.
Also celebrating was Rahat Siddique from Milkstone, she said she was “surprised” with her seven A* grades and two A grades.
She said: “I have done better than I expected, especially in Art that was a big challenge.”
Miss Siddique will attend Oldham Sixth Form where she will study A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and History.
