Results triumph for Kingsway Park High

The first set of students to sit their GCSE exams at the newly formed Kingsway Park High School were delighted as they collected their results today (25 August).
The school, which is a merger of Springhill High School and Balderstone Technology School, opened its doors in September 2010. The school has operated on a ‘split site’ basis for the past school year and today saw two year 11 year groups come together to collect their grades.
Kingsway Park High School head teacher, Deborah Ball, said: “Thirty-seven per cent got 5 A*- C grades including Maths and English. The results are a real credit to the students and it is very exciting for them.”
Ms Ball continued: “It is a great foundation to build on. I’m really pleased.”
Charlotte Gronan achieved a staggering nine A* grades, two A grades and one B grade.
She said: “I’m really happy, I feel really good. I did better than I thought I would.”
In September Miss Gronan will study for A-levels in History, Psychology, Chemistry and Biology at Holy Cross.
Hirra Zafar from Bamford was thrilled with her seven A* grades, two A grades and one B grade.
She said: “I’m ecstatic. I feel so happy.”
Miss Zafar will continue her studies at Holy Cross where she will study Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Maths.
Maryam Khatoon from Wardle achieved a fabulous eight A* grades and three A grades.
She said: “I’m over the moon, I was really nervous. I have done so much better than I expected.”
Miss Khatoon is also going to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and History.
Neelam Khaliq from Deeplish was another one of the students celebrating excellent results.
She achieved four A* grades and eight A grades.
She said: “I don’t know what to say, I’m so happy it is unbelievable. I worked realty hard.”
Next month Miss Khaliq will study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Law at Rochdale Sixth Form College. She hopes to one day go into the medical profession.
