Passengers advised to plan ahead for strike day travel

Date published: 23 August 2011

Passengers in Greater Manchester are advised to expect disruption to some rail services during the planned industrial action by TransPennine Express staff later this week.

TransPennine Express staff represented by the ASLEF and RMT unions have voted to strike on Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 August.

Rail passengers planning to travel on TransPennine services should be aware of possible changes to timetables. Some trains are likely to be cancelled.

Services provided by other train operators will not be disrupted by the industrial action, but the demand for their services may be higher.

Although the strike does not involve bus operators or Metrolink, demand for those services may be higher than usual during the strike, so passengers are advised to take this into account when planning your journey.
