Singer through to regional finals of talent contest

A singer from Rochdale who has always dreamed of taking the music world by storm is preparing for an audition that could change her life forever.

Kelly Hutchinson, 25, has made it through to the regional final of Open Mic UK 2011.

Open Mic UK is the biggest music competition in the UK for singers, songwriters, rappers and solo artists to showcase their music and get signed.

Miss Hutchinson auditioned for the competition - despite knock backs from similar talent contests in the past - and was thrilled to make it through to the next stage, the regional final.

The former Balderstone High School Pupil will take to the stage in Liverpool in November where she will be competing for a place in the national final at the O2 Arena in London, with the chance to win a recording contract.

Miss Hutchinson, who works full time as a Production Administrator and part time at a Castleton pub, has been singing since she was six-years-old, from performing for her family to winning karaoke competitions, but admits it isn’t enough.

She said: “I want so much more, I have a talent and I want to share it with other people. I love it it’s the only thing I want to do. I wish it hadn’t taken me this long to audition.”

Miss Hutchinson now has until 6 November to prepare of the show and is currently debating what to sing.

Her musical influences include Amy Winehouse, Shania Twain and Adele.
