Rochdale woman’s relatives in canoe trip fundraiser

Date published: 22 August 2011

The brother and nephew of a Rochdale woman who is in need of equipment to change her quality of life are taking part in a sponsored canoe trip to raise much needed funds.
Catherine Eves’ brother Jonathan Pautard and his six-year-old son Logan will take to the water next week.

Mrs Eves, 26, suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Autonomic Dysfunction and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and is in need in of special equipment.

Her family and friends have rallied round recently to host fundraising events. A recent fundraiser raised enough money to buy Mrs Eves a special chair and now those involved are concentrating their efforts on raising money for a special bed.

The bed will raise to enable Mrs Eves to get out bed without straining her joints and enable her to raise her legs to help her blood flow. The bed costs over £1,000.

Father and son will take on the mammoth task on Wednesday (31 August), where they will canoe the length of Lake Windermere.

Jonathan said: “People have been so good helping my sister and I felt that I wanted to do my bit for her.”

Logan added: “I am going to canoe from one end of Lake Windermere to the other with my daddy to help my Aunty Catherine who is very poorly. It is going to take a long time.”

Logan is been supported by his school teachers and Smithybridge Methodist Church where he goes to Sunday school.

Brook Bank Canoes in Stockport have also supported the pair donating £350.00.

Mr Pautard added: “If anybody reading this would like to support us and help us to make Catherine’s life a little more comfortable please ring 01706 373265 or 07922278784.”
