Rochdale store to support family’s fundraising efforts

Date published: 19 August 2011

Matalan stores across Manchester, including the one in Rochdale, will be fundraising and taking donations this weekend to help support the campaign to bring home a Manchester man who is in a coma in Bangkok.

Carl Bart, 33, is in a coma following a bike accident. His family are desperately trying to raise money to bring him home.

A spokesperson for Matalan, said: “Carl’s mother, Marilyn Bartholomew, is rallying any public support for her son as costs are escalating to over £100k to just bring him home.
“His mother has also been forced to sell her house to pay for the care Carl needs and his repatriation.

“Over this weekend Matalan stores within the Manchester area are rallying together to raise as much money as possible to bring Carl home to his family and to ensure he receives the best care he needs.”
