Chance to get your band name heard

A business owner from Rochdale who is organising a music event is on the look out for young rock bands to take place in an unusual musical showcase.

Dewan Gazi is looking for five unrecognised bands from Rochdale – to play in the window of Mahi and Zaa hair and beauty salon on Drake Street.

The event, which Mr Gazi established from the idea of ‘window shopping,’ is part of a bid to promote the musicians and to promote Drake Street.

Mr Gazi wants to hear from unknown bands, who he says “probably play in their garages.”

A date for the event hasn’t been set yet but Mr Gazi is hoping to host the event in early to mid September.

The bands will take to the stage in the shop window and speakers will be on the outside so the crowds can hear the bands play live.

Mr Gazi said: “I love the idea that one of these bands doing well for themselves in the future did their first gig at Mahi and Zaa.”
