Officers seize off-road vehicles in clampdown
Date published: 16 August 2011
Police in Heywood seized a quad bike and a small trials bike over the weekend as part of an operation to target the illegal use of off-road bikes.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police's off-road bike team patrolled the Darnhill area after an increase in complaints.
A car being used in an antisocial manner was also seized.
Police Community Support Officer Jenny George of the Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) said: “We are doing all we can to identify and deal with those who use these bikes illegally, and are working closely with local housing agencies to address the problem. If you have one of these bikes and use it on the streets or fields of Heywood then you can expect a visit from us.
“Those who store vehicles being used illegally on behalf of others will also be dealt with.”
