Man dies in quarry accident

A crane driver has died after an incident at Scout Moor quarry.

Emergency services were called to the scene, in Edenfield at 11.55am on Monday (15 August) following reports that a crane had crashed.

The mobile crane is thought to have left the road at the quarry and toppled over before coming to a halt, police said.

The driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.
