A Hopwood Hall College student is celebrating after improving her English and Maths skills this year.
Ruksar Manzoor joined the Progressions Course at the College in September 2010 and has worked hard to achieve her Level 1 in English and Entry Level 3 in Maths.
Functional skills were an obstacle for Miss Manzoor but with lots of hard work, her desire to achieve and the support of her tutors she reached her goals.
Miss Manzoor had low confidence when she started the course, but since then she has taken on a leadership role within the group and being nominated as student rep and has become a confident young person.
She said: “This year has helped me to improve my confidence, communication skills and has helped me to get to where I want to be”.
Miss Manzoor has been extremely successful on her long term work placement and has gained lots of valuable experience. She has been offered an apprenticeship at Meavy View Care Home in conjunction with an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care at Hopwood Hall College.
The Progressions Course is aimed at potential NEET learners who have already achieved a Level 1 vocational course in college but who are unable to progress onto the Level 2 due to various factors. The course aims to improve learners’ functional skills and readiness for work.
