Mayor and Mayoress open exhibition

Date published: 15 August 2011

The Rochdale Photographic Society’s annual exhibition at ‘The Hive’ in the Wheatsheaf Centre has been officially opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, Councillor Alan Godson and Gillian Brown.

Showing some 250 photos, in the form of both mounted prints and digital projected images (DPI) on a DVD presentation, society members and the public are able to have a closer look at work produced by the Society over the past year.

The prints had previously been judged by Christine Widdall EFIAP, DPAGB, BPE3 President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union and the digital images by Tillman Kleinhans ARPS, EFIAP, DPAGB.

Many awards had been given for outstanding images but there were four overall winners - two for beginners and two for advanced workers - for Prints and Digital projected images in each category.

The winners were:

  • Beginners Print: Bernard Fisher
  • Beginners DPI: Ruth Green
  • Advanced Print: Mike Davis
  • Advanced DPI: Peter Lord

After the official opening, the Mayor and Mayoress spent some time admiring the work.

To inform potential new members the Society is having an open evening at their meeting place (Rochdale Unitarian Church) on the evening of Wednesday 31 August, at 7:30 for 7:45.

The exhibition is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10.00am-4.00pm.

The exhibition continues at 'The Hive' until Sunday 28 August.
