New supermarket opens on Retail Park

The new Asda supermarket on Kingsway Retail Park

A new Asda supermarket has opened on Kingsway Retail Park, Rochdale.

The opening follows the transformation of the former Netto store which previously occupied the site and is one of 147 stores which Asda has taken over as part of an £800m deal.

Staff from Netto have been retrained for the new supermarket and 12 new jobs have been created.

The supermarket was officially opened with a special ceremony following the renovation – with the guests of honour at the event being the children of the store’s employees.

The children of the staff were invited to be the supermarket’s first customers and cut the ribbon at the opening.
