Main stage spot for battle winners

Date published: 18 July 2011

Local band ‘The Fellons’ emerged victorious at the ‘Feel Good – Battle of the Bands’ competition in Rochdale on Thursday night.

The band got a rousing reception at East, on South Parade, during a packed night of music with six of the boroughs best music acts taking to the stage for a chance of appearing at the Feel Good Festival.

Each played two songs, in front of the judges; entertainment journalist Shaun Curran, radio presenter Shell Zenner and music PR Specialist Rob Kerford, before difficult decisions had to be made.

Rob Kerford, owner of Sonic PR and promoter of some of Europe’s biggest musicians said they were impressed by all the acts: “Right from the beginning we’ve seen a lot of talent tonight, and all six bands were strong, in different ways. Ultimately we all agreed that the winner would fit the main stage perfectly and be a fantastic show opener. We can’t wait to see them perform a full set on the main stage.”

‘The Fellons’ who play a mix of funk and soul music, will open the main stage against the backdrop of Rochdale Town Hall on the Saturday afternoon.
Second place went to ‘ProjectAURA,’ who will play at The Flying Horse Hotel after the main stage performances finish on the Saturday night.

The Battle of the Bands competition was hosted by local DJ Dave Sweetmore.
