Dale team up with hospice to raise funds

Date published: 03 August 2011

Rochdale Football Club has teamed up with Springhill Hospice as part of The Football League’s official charity partnership with Help the Hospices, in a bid to raise vital funds.

The Hospice, on Broad Lane, is always looking for new ways to raise money because although hospice care is free for everyone who needs it, it is not free to provide.

The Club will raise cash for the Hospice by organising collections at matches and taking part in various fundraising events.

Dean Connaughton, Community Fundraiser from Springhill Hospice, said: “Like in football, you never know what’s around the corner in life – and you never know when you or someone you know might need hospice care.

“With Rochdale’s support, your local hospice will carry on helping seriously ill people in Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood and Parts of North Manchester to live well during their final days.

The Chief Executive of Rochdale Football Club, Colin Garlick, added: “Rochdale Football Club and Springhill Hospice have enjoyed a good relationship over many years and as a football club we have been delighted to assist as and when we can, with the Football League nominating Help for Hospices as their chosen charity for the coming season and us being paired with Springhill we can further strengthen our relationship and hopefully do more to assist them with their vital fundraising activities.”
