Power cut hits 8,000 properties

Date published: 27 July 2011

Around 8,000 properties in Castleton and the surrounding areas were left without power for around two hours this morning (Wednesday 27 July) following a power cut.

According to Electricity North West the cut was caused by a fault in the network.

Power was out from 6.30am, with the last batch of properties having their electricity restored at 8.20am.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West apologised for the inconvenience and said the power was restored as quickly as possible.
