Green Flag awards for borough’s parks and green spaces

The borough of Rochdale has retained its eight Green Flag awards, the national benchmark for parks and green space excellence.

The Green Flag is a sign to visitors that the park is a high quality green space with excellent facilities.

The Rochdale borough’s Green Flag-awarded parks and green spaces are: 

• Queen’s Park, Heywood
• Boarshaw Cemetery, Middleton
• Truffet Park, Middleton
• Hare Hill Park, Littleborough
• Milnrow Memorial Park, Milnrow
• Broadfield Park, Rochdale
• Packer Spout and St Chads Gardens, Rochdale
• Rochdale Memorial Gardens

Councillor Martin Burke, Cabinet Member for Internal and Environmental Services at Rochdale Borough Council, said: "To retain all of our Green Flags is fantastic news and shows that our parks are among the best in the country.

“It’s volunteers, not just council employees, who work hard throughout the year to keep our parks and green spaces at a high standard so that they are pleasant and enjoyable spaces for the whole community. These awards are truly well deserved.”

All of the borough’s award-winning sites now have the chance to receive a further award from the Green Flag Plus Partnership, the People’s Choice Award.
