New music festival launched in Rochdale
Date published: 23 July 2011
The Soccer Village was transformed into a lively music venue today (Saturday 23 July).
The complex, on Wildhouse Lane, Milnrow, hosted a brand new music celebration which saw music acts take to the stage as part of the ‘Find Your Feet Festival.’
The entertainment is set to continue well into the night with around 30 acts having a slot on one of the three stages, including headline act, Kid British.
Performances on the main stage include Leopards, County Rats, Genuine Articles, Endeavours, Rook and Ravens and Rochdale’s very own Dead Kestrels, who performed at the Feel Good Festival in 2010.
The other stages played host to acoustic acts, DJ sets and urban music.
Organiser, Chris Stock, from Middleton, anticipated that crowd numbers will reach 2,000 by the end of the festival, in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
He hopes the event will be the start of things to come; which could lead to a full weekend festival in 2012.
Speaking to Rochdale Online, Mr Stock said: “I’ve been doing this for about two years and I have been running a band night. Last year I did something similar in a pub beer garden where we just had a trailer for a stage – so I’ve upped it this year.
“I was looking for a decent place and I like it here; it’s the perfect set up.”
He added: “I wanted to do something different in Rochdale, something that focuses on the bands.
“Hopefully it will be an annual festival.”
A side from the music there was something for everyone, including: outdoor bars, fairground rides and prize games.
