Falinge Park High School
The Councils’ cabinet has agreed to an increase in the charge of the standard school meal for pupils by five pence (5p) from £1.75 to £1.80 with effect from 1 September 2011.
Would parents of Year 6 students starting here in September please note that there was a typing mistake in the letter that was sent home with students on the Induction Day. The start up day in September is Monday 5 September 2011.
The library quiz takes place on Tuesday 19 July. This is now a termly event which started this year. Pupils enter in teams of 3 or 4, and answer questions related to popular fiction books. The winning team receives a prize.
Well done to our six reporters who went along to see ‘A Chorus Line’ at the Curtain Theatre in Rochdale last week. The group are likely to be in attendance for ‘Godspell’ next week too.
Well done to Punitha Naidu in Year 10 who attended the ‘Voices4Wellbeing’ Conference at the Castlemere Centre last week. Punitha performed a ten minute monologue in front of a large number of guests and participated in a short question and answer session. The piece tackled dementia in a challenging way.
Many thanks to Newfound Theatre Company who performed a selection of short monologues and worked with 7K3 all day Thursday this week. The learners created their own monologues and performed them on camera as part of next year's assessments. Well done to all pupils involved for such outstanding work.
Congratulations to our reporters for such a busy week. The six reporters made a newspaper handcart which was showcased as part of Saturday's Rochdale Arts Feel Good Festival in the town centre. They also visited the Scribble Festival at the Town Hall on Wednesday and took part in a range of creative writing workshops.
Well done to Punitha Naidu who performed a short monologue centred on dementia. Punitha bravely performed in front of over 100 guests from the NHS, Pennine Trust and other Health Services at the Castlemere Centre on Wednesday evening. Her performance was very emotional and well received. Well done and many thanks to her family.
Arts Action Proposal forms are now available from the CEPA Office. If you would like to start or lead a new Arts extra-curricular club or workshop or get involved more then please see Mr De Courcey in the CEPA Office.
Many thanks to Spotland and Greenbank Primary Schools who came along on Monday this week to participate in an Arts Experience Day. This follows a year of adventurous pursuit’s activities. We hope they had a great day and we were impressed by the quality of work produced by learners. We look forward to seeing staff and pupils again very soon.

Many thanks to all the students who had a great day at Alton Towers in spite of the wet weather. A fantastic day was enjoyed by staff and students alike.
Our virtual postcards are now on display on the VLE. Our new pupils can view them by using the web address and access details issued to them on their Induction Day with us. We hope that you can enjoy reading what everyone wrote.
We wish Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Maude, and Mr and Mrs Kokocki good luck as they begin their retirement this week. After many years of service, we know they will be sorely missed by many and we will miss them in September! We also say farewell to Ms. Dakin and Ms. Wilson. Good luck! We would also like to welcome our new staff who you will meet in September
GCSE results day is Thursday 25 August 2011 between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
And finally we wish all our pupils, families and staff a restful summer break and look forward to seeing you all back in school refreshed on Monday 5 September 2011.
