A young woman from Newhey is celebrating after gaining a First Class LLB Honours Law Degree.

Hayley Moore, 20, studied Law at University Campus Oldham, part of the Huddersfield University and is one of just a handful of people to have got a first in the subject.

Miss Moore, who is now looking for a job at a solicitors firm, said she was “shocked” when she received her results.

She said: “Studying law is something I have always wanted to do because it interests me.

“It was hard work and I was shocked when I got my results.

“I didn’t think I would get a first.

“When I got the results I printed them off and I was shaking, my hands were shaking.”
Miss Moore, attended Hollingworth High School before studying Law and Business at Oldham College followed by a three year university course.

Her next step is to do her Legal Practice Course.

She added: “There has only ever been one LLB first at Oldham before, there was one person a few years ago and two people got a first this year.”

The other student to get a first on the course this year was Miss Moore’s friend, Georgina Harrison, 21, from Oldham.

Miss Moore concluded: “Our senior lecturer was there on results day; she was really happy for us because it is so hard to get a first.”
