King Street South was transformed on Sunday (17 July) for the annual Freehold Street Festival Mela.
The street was decorated with colourful bunting and the The Green was filled with attractions from fairground rides and face painting to live music and a penalty shoot out.
The event, now in its 37th year, proved a huge hit with both the young and the old and despite the rain people arrived throughout the day to enjoy the festival fun.
Organiser Dr. Mohammed Salim, said: “I don’t think we ever dreamt when we first started that we would be still here after all these years.
“We do it to get everyone together and see smiling faces. It is a real opportunity for people to get together.
“There is a great atmosphere and something for everyone."
He added: “When it rains it is disheartening but we leave it in God’s hands. Everything is always alright on the day.”
“People come back every year and that keeps us going; they know it is for them and they support us.
“People are really enjoying themselves.”
