The Councils’ cabinet has agreed to an increase in the charge of the standard school meal for pupils by five pence (5p) from £1.75 to £1.80 with effect from 1 September 2011.

Would parents of Year 6 students starting here in September please note that there was a typing mistake in the letter that was sent home with students on the Induction Day. The start up day in September is Monday 5 September 2011.

The library quiz takes place on Tuesday 19 July. This is now a termly event which started this year. Pupils enter in teams of 3 or 4, and answer questions related to popular fiction books. The winning team receives a prize.

The Year 7’s have been visiting the local library in Rochdale, where the children’s’ services manager has kindly given them a tour and signed up any new members.

School still have a vast amount of ‘Lost Property’. This is always handed in and kept at Main Reception. If your child has lost any item if clothing, or a PE bag etc, please ask them to check at Main Reception before the end of term. It will then all be disposed of.

Well done to our six reporters who went along to see ‘A Chorus Line’ at the Curtain Theatre in Rochdale this week. The group are likely to be in attendance for ‘Godspell’ next week too. 

Well done to Punitha Naidu in Year 10 who attended the ‘Voices4Wellbeing’ Conference at the Castlemere Centre this week. Punitha performed a ten minute monologue in front of a large number of guests and participated in a short question and answer session. The piece tackled dementia in a challenging way.

Letters for our two week intensive Music Department Taster Workshops are to be sent to our Year 6 intake in the next week. The letter and document give learners and parents a flavour of what is on offer over the first two weeks at school.

This is the last week for pupils to be involved in the Drama Summer School at the start of the holidays. There are still a few places left so if you would like to be involved and are in receipt if a letter, then please return it to Mr DeCourcey as soon as possible.

Letters for CEPA Learning Champions go out to selected pupils next week. A cohort of 20 Year 8 learners will be selected for their effort and dedication in the Arts and receive training early in the Autumn term. More details can be obtained by contacting Mr DeCourcey directly in school.

Our virtual postcards are now on display on the VLE. Our new pupils can view them by using the web address and access details issued to them on their Induction Day with us. We hope that you can enjoy reading what everyone wrote!
