A manager from Rochdale Borough Council’s Home Improvement Agency has been recognised with a top award.
Paul Gordziejewicz who has worked with the council for nearly 30 years, took the Individual Outstanding Contribution Award for his commitment to the sector over the last 10 years from ‘Foundations’ – the government appointed national co-ordinating body for Home Improvement Agencies.
Mr Gordziejewicz, who was born and brought up in Rochdale, has headed up the Home Improvement Agency since it was formed in 2001.
The council run service works with hundreds of residents including older and disabled people, and families on a low income, helping them to stay in their homes by assisting with repairs, adaptations and improvements to properties throughout the borough.
Mr Gordziejewicz was presented with his award by the Director of Foundations, Andy Chaplin at a special awards ceremony in Westmister, hosted by Baroness Hanham, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Department for Communities and Local Government.
Mr Gordziejewicz attended the ceremony with his wife and two children. He said: “Its great to be recognised, but this award represents a team effort and I want to thank everyone for the hard work they put in day in, day out.”
Penny Sharp, Head of Regeneration at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This is fantastic achievement, and it is good news for residents that a service provided by the council has staff who are clearly dedicated to what they do.
“I am proud to once again see Rochdale and its people being recognised on the national stage.
“A lot of personal enthusiasm, hard work and perseverance has gone in over the years.”
