Man, 19, rescued after getting stuck in mud

Date published: 11 July 2011

Another man has been rescued by fire fighters after getting stuck in mud at Hollingworth Lake Nature Reserve.

Two fire crews and a specialist water incident unit were called to Hollingworth Lake just after 3.30pm today (Monday 11 July).

On arrival they found a 19-year-old man stuck fast in mud up to his knees.

Fire-fighters used a nine metre ladder, life jacket and a hose reel to rescue the man.

He was offered medical assistance but declined.

This is the second such incident in the past week. Last Monday (4 July) fire-fighters rescued a 46-year-old man who had got stuck up to his waist in mud.
