Primary school in playground makeover bid
Date published: 11 July 2011
There’s just a few days left for people to cast their votes in a bid to help a Rochdale primary school win a playground competition worth £30,000.
St Gabriel’s RC Primary School in Castleton is one of six finalists in a nationwide competition held by Ronseal.
The school, on Vicarage Road South, is the only school in the North West to have made it to the final and now needs votes to ensure it scoops the prize of a playground makeover.
Staff, parents and children are doing everything they can to get members of the public to vote so the school can have a new play area.
The competition’s winner will be the school with the most votes, cast through the Ronseal Facebook page.
Votes are cast by pressing the ‘Like’ button below the photo of the school’s playground on Facebook.
The school’s Performance Improvement Officer, Sarah Conway, said: “Voting closes on Friday and we are trying to get as many votes as possible.
“The children and parents have been working really hard and they have done a leaflet drop in the town centre.
“We are still about 1,200 votes adrift from the top school in Scotland so we really need people to vote.”
So far the school has 1,355 votes.
Voting closes at midnight on Friday 15 July.
