A couple from Castleton have made it to the final of a radio competition to win a wedding – and they need your votes to make their dream come true.
Michael Fernandes, 22, and Cheryl Holden, 24 have been together for almost ten years and the missing piece of their life is getting married; something they say they will never been able to afford.
The couple are one of ten couples in the final, with two weddings up for grabs courtesy of 106.1 Rock Radio.
The radio station will provide everything for the wedding, at Manchester Museum, except the dress and the rings, and there is just one week left to cast your vote.
The couple, who have been together since school, had their first child when Ms Holden was 16 and Mr Fernandes was just 14 years old.
They now have three children, Liam, 8, Bryan, 3, and Archie, 11 months.
Mr Fernandes said: “We won’t ever be able to afford a wedding, Cheryl is at home all day looking after the children and the house and I am out just earning minimum wage.
“We have never had any money.
“From school I went and got a full time job and never had chance to save up.”
Mr Fernandes, a Landscape Gardener, added: “We proved everyone wrong, people said when Liam was born that we would never stay together, but we have and everything is working out, this is the only thing missing.”
To vote text ‘Couple 6’ to 87711. Text messages cost 25p.
Only one vote per unique mobile number will be counted. Any multiple votes received will be charged but will not be counted. Voting closes at noon on Monday 11 July.
