A student from St Anne’s Academy in Middleton has been awarded the prestigious Rotary Young Citizens Award.

Jason Gregory, impressed the Rotary Club of Middleton’s awards panel, led by John Hallet, with his enthusiasm for his voluntary work

The teen devotes a considerable amount of time to running sports sessions for under privileged and disabled children between the ages of 6 to 14 years.

He has also achieved excellent academic success. He is particularly interested in Differential Equations and is continuing his studies in order to obtain an AS level grade in Further Mathematics before going on to university.

However, his mathematical aptitude is not self-centred; he acts as a mentor to year 11 students preparing for their GCSE mathematics examinations and achieves considerable success in improving their anticipated grades.

Mr Gregory has been described by the Rotary Club as “an extremely capable and inspirational individual with the drive, tenacity and passion to succeed in whatever he turns his hand to.”

The teen is also a keen sportsman and has had success at a local level as a footballer.
He plays for both his school and local town teams enjoying important victories, cup wins and league format triumphs as team captain. He also assists the manager of Broadway Celtic with the team coaching.
