Kingsway pupils celebrate end of school
Date published: 01 July 2011
Students from Kingsway Park High School’s Queen Victoria site proved they had great imaginations when they arrived at their prom at the Norton Grange Hotel on Friday night (1 July) – by turning up in a variety of vehicles, including a motorbike, a tuk tuk and an ice cream van.
The prom signals the end of the pupils’ time at the school and although it is time for that chapter to close and a new one to open the message from students was loud and clear: ‘we will miss school.’
The young men and women dressed in beautiful clothes ready to make some lasting memories, forget the stress of their recent exams and dance the night away.
Sixteen-year-old Matthew Bleakley is looking forward to studying at Hopwood Hall College’s Middleton campus in September but he said he is looking forward to “chilling” over the summer.
Ashleigh Chaffey, also 16, said: “I am going to Rochdale Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and French.
“I wanted to be a Doctor but I’ve been told I don’t have the right grades so I have no idea what I want to do now.”
The teachers described the students as a “great bunch.”
Tim Stokes added: “We are going to miss them greatly.
“We are looking forward to seeing them in August, we have very high expectations that they will do very very well.”
