Sports Review of the Year -Thank you to those parents and carers who have indicated that they will be attending this special event on Thursday 7 July at 6.30pm at the Gracie Fields Theatre. It will be a celebration of all the achievements by pupils, regardless of ability, throughout the year in a variety of sporting, leisure and club activities. Please come along to this family event and enjoy the occasion.
Summer Holiday Club – 25 July to 12 August -A reminder that a meeting will be held Thursday at 6.30pm for those parents/carers who wish to book a place for the summer holiday club. We have had a very good response and you will hear specific details of the holiday clubs and how they will be organised. Should you wish to access this, I would urge you to attend the Holiday Club Open Evening. Priority will be given to parents who attend this event to meet the organisers David Butterworth and Greta McDonald.
School Dinners—from September dinners will be £1.80 per day £9.00 per week prompt payment each Monday is appreciated—thank you.
Students from three classes in Year 10 and 11 have been joining together to learn how to digitally animate films. They have modelled characters and produced some excellent animated features. Particular praise should go to Liam who animated an impressive film, a future career perhaps! 4E and 4R this week are going to visit the garden centre, as ‘Weather and Climate’ is this half term’s topic. Nathan S from Miss Greenhalgh’s class is to start his work experience at Queens Park in Heywood. Good Luck Nathan—enjoy it.
The Bridging group have been on some College taster days to gain experience of the courses they will be attending shortly. 4M pupils will be also going attending a taster day in brick-laying at college so they can see what kinds of classes they will be doing in September.
The pupils who won the Roll of honour for last week are: All of class 4C, Tonya, Tommy H, Jodie , Ragnar, Maddiya, Declan, Joshua , Andrew and Alex. Well done everyone.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored David Butterworth for the Great North Swim, he completed the mile in 29.09 minutes and finished 688 out of over 10,000 competitors. All the money raised will go to outdoor seating for our young people to use at breaks and lunch times.
Key stage 3 news -Again a busy week with 8/9 red and the Lilac room feeding rabbits as part of a lesson on the environment—looking after animals. Aqsa, Robert and Jordan went horseriding and to Queens Park to use the gym equipment. 8/9 Orange visited Sky light circus to try out some circus skills they also visited Tesco collecting war time resources. 7 Green recreated landscapes using work from Carl Warner by making a food landscape. Fahaz practiced ‘Bollywood’ dancing ready to perform in Assembly and Kyle read out the prayer in assembly. Students of the week James Declan and Callum—well done! Thank you to Stefan who worked with the students to produce some fantastic art work
Sixth form news -The two groups who were on residential arrived back safe and sound and buzzing from their experiences. Hannah, Chantelle, Gemma, Laura, Louis, Antony, Paul, Glenn, Samantha, Karen together with Michele, Marie, Phil and Sarah had the time of their lives in Lanzarote. The party stayed in Los Zocos Hotel close to Las Cucharas Beach. The group took part in crazy golf, cabaret, sunbathing on the beach, fish pedicures, swimming and visiting local market areas. The group had an amazing time and didn’t want to come back.
Daniel, Tanya, Dylan, Rebecca, Kirsty, Thomas H, Danielle, Aiden and Andrew S with Anne McNally, Joanne, Jodie, Michael and Emma spent their week in Keswick at the Calvert Trust Activity Centre. The group enjoyed canoeing in Canadian canoes, climbing on the indoor climbing wall, archery, swimming in the new pool, wheelchair abseiling and completed an assault course. Everyone had a fabulous time.
