Hospice midnight walk postponed

Date published: 23 June 2011

The fifth ladies-only Springhill Hospice Midnight Walk has been postponed, due to a set of circumstances beyond the control of the organisers.

The walk, originally set to take place on Saturday 9 July, has been rescheduled to take place on Friday 23 September.

Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change of date.

“Anyone who has registered beforehand will have their details carried over but, if registrants cannot make the new date they can contact the Fundraising Office on 01706 649920 in order for us to arrange a refund of their registration fee.

“Of course for those of you who are able to join us in September, the good news is that you now have more time to train…and, hopefully, get further sponsorship!”

Entry fee for the event is just £12 and all participants will receive a unique Midnight Walk t-shirt, medal, post-walk refreshments and a Certificate of Achievement to proudly display.

Mr Jenkins added: "We are hoping that the extra time we now have will enable us to gain even more participants.

“Over the last four years the Midnight Walk has established itself as the biggest single fundraising event organised by the Hospice – 500 walkers took part last year and raised over £50,000 - so come on ladies, join us for a great night of fun and fundraising!”

For the first time this year participants can register either online by going to http://bit.ly/sprimw11 and following the simple instructions, by collecting a registration form from Springhill Hospice, Broad Lane, Rochdale OL16 4PZ or by requesting one from the Fundraising Office on 01706 649920. The new closing date for registration is Friday 16 September 2011.
