Danczuk invites PM to Rochdale

Date published: 22 June 2011

Rochdale’s MP Simon Danczuk has invited the Prime Minister to Rochdale to mark the United Nations International Year of the Cooperative.

Mr Danczuk made the invite to David Cameron during Prime Ministers Questions today (22 June).

He urged Mr Cameron to “show support of mutualism.”

Mr Cameron then joked about prime ministers’ record for visiting the town – following last year’s infamous incident between Gordon Brown and Gillian Duffy.

This afternoon Mr Danczuk tweeted: “Invited the Prime Minister to visit Rochdale as part of UN's year of Cooperatives.”

A fellow tweeter added: “In response to PMQs today, Simon Danczuk says the PM need not fear Rochdale - Gillian Duffy keeps a very busy diary these days.”
