Five-vehicle collision on M62

Motorists are being advised to avoid the junction 12 area of the M62 motorway following a five vehicle collision which has left 50 people injured.
Shortly after 3.10pm today (Monday 20 June 2011), emergency services were called to reports of the collision on the M62 motorway eastbound, near to the J12 (Eccles) exit.
Police and paramedics attended and found that five vehicles, including two coaches with school children on board, had been involved in a collision.
One of the coach drivers is being treated for a suspected broken leg and approximately 50 people are being treated for minor injuries.
Two lanes are closed near to J12 of the M62 and there are likely to be long delays. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
