Ladies' day raises thousands for NSPCC

Date published: 20 June 2011

Fundraisers who attended the fabulous ‘Ascot at Nutters’ event on Thursday (16 June) have helped to raise over £11,000 for the NSPCC.

The event attracted women from the borough and beyond to an afternoon of fine food, fun and watching the races.

The Ladies Day, organised by the Rochdale Branch of the NSPCC is now in its seventh year.

John Kay of the Littleborough NSPCC, and a director of Rochdale Online, said: “We had a great result from ‘Ascot at Nutters 2011’ as we now know that we made at least £6,400.00 net profit on the event.

“We also received the cheque from Fisher Field Nurseries for the money which they have raised for the NSPCC of £4,600.00.

“This means that NSPCC were £11,000.00 plus better off as a result of that one day.”

Mr Kay added: “I think that the NSPCC is now one of the best supported charities in the Rochdale Area.

“We are always looking for new volunteers who wish to get involved and any enquiries in this respect can be sent to me at jkay@molesworths.co.uk and I will get the appropriate District Committee to get in touch with them.”
