Deliberate fire at empty house

Fire-fighters tackled a blaze at an empty house in Smallbridge last night (19 June), which was started deliberately.
Crews from Rochdale and Heywood attended the property on Halifax Road at 07.18pm.
On arrival they were faced with a fire involving three bedrooms on the first floor of an empty terraced house.
The fire service put the cause of the fire down to “deliberate ignition by persons unknown.”
A police investigation will now take place.
