Fashion students take to the catwalk

Date published: 16 June 2011

Fashion and textiles students from Hopwood Hall College downed tools on Thursday night (16 June) to take part in a spectacular fashion show – wearing outfits they designed and made.

Around 30 students took to the catwalk at the College’s Rochdale Campus where they strutted their stuff foR almost an hour in front of their tutors, friends and family.

The end of year show is a highlight in the students’ calendar and gave them chance to show off their finished items of clothing.

The group, made up of first and second year students, showed the audience a variety of outfits from fashionable jackets and umbrellas to skirts made from newspaper and dresses made from bin liners.

Dancers from the College also provided entertainment at the half way point of the show.

Some of the students in the show are finishing for the summer break whilst others are leaving the College and getting ready to start university. The majority of the students are continuing down the fashion route.

Course tutor Annette Houghton, said: “I thought it went great, some of the quieter students have gained confidence from going out there. It is nice for them all to show off what they have done.”
