Runners wanted for Great North Run

Date published: 15 June 2011

UK charity Action on Hearing Loss is issuing a final call to marathon enthusiasts and fun-runners from Rochdale to take part in this year’s Bupa Great North Run.

Action on Hearing Loss is inviting people to sign up for the event, which is taking place in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Sunday 18 September, in order to help raise vital funds for research into hearing loss and tinnitus, and support for people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

The Great North Run is the world’s most iconic half-marathon, attracting some 54,000 participants. Part of the 21 km course involves crossing the stunning Tyne Bridge, and includes a thrilling Red Arrows flyby to look forward to at the end.

Amanda Osgood and Alison Taylor, completed the run last year, raising a combined total of nearly £900. They said: “We had the fantastic opportunity to raise money for a wonderful cause. We would both highly recommend supporting Action on Hearing Loss as they made the race really special for us.”

The final date to sign-up is Friday 8 July, with a registration fee of £40 and a sponsorship pledge of £350.
