A student from Hopwood Hall College is one step closer to pursuing a dream career in criminology.
Summander Hussain joined the College’s Level 1 BTEC Uniformed Public Services (UPS) course as a very quiet young man in September 2006.
Although he managed to pass this qualification, his tutors felt that he would benefit greatly by attending the College’s progressions group to concentrate on his ICT, English, Maths and communication skills. So in September 2007 he enrolled on to this course and with the right support and guidance he achieved outstanding results in all his exams.
Since then, he’s been able to steadily progress up the levels and is doing brilliantly.
In September 2009 he enrolled on to the Level 3 BTEC UPS course for what Summander thought would be his last couple of years in education. However, this year he will complete his Level 3 and go to Bradford University to study Criminology.
UPS Curriculum Manager Terry Morley, said: “During the past two years, we’ve seen a great transformation in this man who became very confident and always working hard with a fantastic attendance and punctuality record.
“In recognition of this he was awarded the Best Endeavour trophy for Level 2.
“This young man has proven with the right guidance, support and commitment nothing is impossible.
“Summander is a pleasure to teach and a fantastic role model and we all wish him the very best in his new adventure.”
