Sports Review of the Year at Redwood School - invitations have been sent for our special evening on Thursday 7 July, 6.30pm at the Gracie Fields Theatre. It will be a celebration of all the achievements by pupils, regardless of ability, throughout the year in a variety of sporting, leisure and club activities. Please come along to this family event and enjoy the occasion.
Parents Consultation on the SEN Green Paper - A reminder that parents/carers are invited to attend and give opinions on the recent government paper on SEN and Disability on Tuesday 14 June 1000am – 12.00pm and 6.00pm – 8.30pm at the Youth Service Building, Littleborough,OL15 9JQ. I would urge you to have your say on these important developments.
Congratulations and Well done -To Tonya, Year 10, who has been shortlisted to be a member of the Rochdale Youth Parliament. Let us hope that Tonya is elected and is given the opportunity to influence issues for Rochdale’s teenagers.
To Thomas, Year 9, who has taken part in a media project with Fairbridge service. Thomas has worked with other young people and made a short film which was filmed and produced by the group. The film was showcased this week at the Vue Cinema in Bury and was presented by Will Thorp (Chris Gray in Coronation Street). The next stage is for the documentary to be viewed on the Community Channel in the near future. Thomas is available for autographs he tells me. Well done Thomas.
Summer Holiday Club – 25 July to 12 August – details have been sent with information on how parents/carers can access the 3 weeks holiday club during the summer holidays. Should you wish to access this, I would urge you to return the slip and attend the Holiday Club Open Evening on 23rd June, 6.30pm. Priority will be given to parents who attend this event to meet David Butterworth and Greta McDonald.
Key stage 4 news - 4E/R have been working hard lately, they have been making props for their sensory story ‘The BFG’. The pupils have made Aztec bracelets, stain glass windows and a Mexican quilt which focuses on their topic this term. Jason won first prize for the ‘Smiley face’ competition. He had to design a smiley face and say why he was so happy. Jason’s answer was: “I am happy because I am me’. 4R have been baking brownies this week and selling them to Oulderhill pupils, they sold out within minutes and they managed to make a good profit. Due to the high demand for more brownies they will make some more to sell in the near future.
Key Stage 3 News — We have a trainee teacher working with us this week he is an artist. The students are completing workshops on colour, character design, t shirt printing and ceramics.
