Rochdale teen crowned Miss Manchester

Nicola McConnell
A teenager from Rochdale has been crowned Miss Manchester.
Nicola McConnell, 18, wowed the judges and was named the winner of the prestigious competition at the live final in Alderley Edge.
The judging panel included former football Robbie Savage.
Ms McConnell, from Bamford, said: “I was really shocked. It was a really good, fun night.”
Ms McConnell’s prizes included a spa trip to Malta, a photography session in London and various promo opportunities.
Ms McConnell, a pupil at the Hulme Grammer School in Oldham, is currently completing her A-level exams and hopes to one day become a doctor.
The top of the class student has received an offer to study medicine at the University of Manchester.
She added: “I am waiting until my exams finish and then I am going to focus on Miss England, which is on 18 July.”
Ms McConnell was sponsored by Castlefield Clinic. In a post on Twitter they said: “Well... Nicola, our girl for Miss Manchester won last night! We're absolutely delighted for her and wish her the best for Miss England.”
