Smoke alarm raises early warning

A fire in a detached house in Rochdale was contained thanks to detection from a smoke alarm.
Two fire crews from Rochdale were called to Links View, Bamford, at 7.29am this morning (10 June) following reports of a kitchen fire.
A spokesperson for the fire service, said: “The crew found a fire involving a cooker in the kitchen - which had been left unattended.
“Due to the timely activation of the smoke alarm the fire was contained to the cooker before it could spread to the rest of the kitchen.
“The fire-fighters who attended inspected the cooker and made it safe using hand tools - giving advice to the occupants.”
