Falinge Park High School

Many thanks to our six Falinge Crew Reporters who gave up some of their holiday to record more interviews and organise the next six weeks’ of their newspaper column.

The six pupils are now in the process of gathering more material for the next few weeks.

Well done to Kurtis Tweedale who performed a ten minute monologue as part of a local ‘Voices for well being’ Conference over the holidays. Kurtis organised the piece himself and performed in front of seventy strong audience at Richmond Hall. Following the performance, he answered questions in role too!

The deadline for our ‘Macbeth’ Model Set Competition is closing in. Entries must be with Mr. DeCourcey in the CEPA office before the end of day 17 June. Competition details can be seen on posters and displays around school.

Well done to our BTEC Year 10 Drama Students who came in during the half-term holidays to get ready their practical pieces for assessment. Their hard work should be repaid in their assessments this week as they perform short pieces based on ‘Cyberbullying’ to year 7 audiences.

Letters regarding our annual sponsored walk have been issued to parents. Please read the letter carefully and return the forms at the earliest convenience.

Tickets for our forthcoming show, ‘Tales from the Midnight Mangroves’ are now on sale from school priced £3.00. The hour long piece is performed by four Year 10 and Year 11 students and promises to be something special. Tickets are available in advance only directly from school or at the CEPA office at break times, lunchtimes and after school.

Opportunities to be involved in the filming of ‘Waterloo Road’ have been highlighted to students but please note this is not an arrangement through school. In the first instance pupils contact the Agency themselves. Whilst the opportunity is exciting, please note that the priority must remain with school based learning in term time and we ask that both parents and students to consider this when proceeding with filming commitments.

Many thanks go to friends of school who have recently donated paint to help with scenery construction. Your generosity is much appreciated.
