Welcome back to everyone after the half-term break. We are now in full swing for the final few weeks of the school year.

Well done to the following pupils who gained the award just before the holiday, and were presented with their awards by the Expo-Chef who had been demonstrating for the whole school:

Reception: Cameron Hitch
Year 1: Raniya Ali
Year 2: Alicia Quinlan
Year 3: Qasim Mushtaq
Year 4: Bradley Watts
Year 5: Christopher Hoyle
Year 6: Aiden Jackson

Best attendance was Year 4.

Next week on Wednesday the Year 6 children are going to Manchester Metropolitan University as part of the Aim Higher Programme. This will take part as the normal school day and there is no cost to parents. A packed lunch will be provided by school for children who have a school dinner. Please could children who normally bring their own lunch remember that they will need a drink.

Reception Class are on their trip to Smithills Farm on Thursday – again lunch will be provided by school for children who normally have a cooked school lunch.

The school are proud to announce that we have been chosen to be a pilot project for a new Healthy Eating Education Programme. This will involve the whole school, but mainly Year 4. Parents will be warmly invited to take part in an open coffee afternoon taking place every Wednesday afternoon until the end of term. The first one will be next Wednesday and parents are invited to join the team for coffee from 2.30 onwards – a nice warm pick up afternoon. We hope to be able to serve the coffee under the verandah. Please keep a look out for information about this great project.

We are coming to the end of the Tesco voucher collection. All vouchers should be handed in before 24 June – any received after this are useless and cannot be counted in the end total.

The Book Fair will be on from 20 June for one week. Children and parents are welcome to come and browse every evening after school in the Year 1 classroom.

As we reach the end of term the timetable is becoming busy. The Leavers BBQ is being planned for 8 July. We are hoping to combine this celebration with the healthy eating education programme, but don’t worry, burgers and sausages will still be the rule on the night. Information about the evening is on its way.
